Cultural Medallion
The Cultural Medallion was
instituted in March 1979 as an initiative of our late President, Mr Ong Teng
Cheong. The award recognises individuals who have attained artistic excellence
in their respective artistic fields. It is conferred by the Minister for
Information, Communications and the Arts and is administered by NAC.
In
response to the increasingly overlapping boundaries of arts practices and
disciplines, the Cultural Medallion now recognise artistic excellence in new
areas such as multi-media art, technical theatre and pop music. These new areas
will be combined with the previous genres of art, music, theatre, photography,
dance, literature and film to form four broad categories for nominations, namely
literary arts, performing arts, visual arts and film.

Nominations are
now open. Find out how to
nominate well-deserving Singapore artists and send them in by 23 January
2006!
